About the Department
The Engineering & Maintenance Department of Medical Teaching Institution (MTI), Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the hospital’s buildings, infrastructure, engineering systems and technical facilities.
The department coordinates maintenance activities, technical inspections, repair works and infrastructure-related services to help maintain a functional healthcare environment for patients, healthcare professionals, employees and visitors.
Key Functions
The Engineering & Maintenance Department coordinates and supervises the following activities:
- Building Maintenance: Maintenance and repair of hospital buildings, offices, wards and other institutional facilities.
- Electrical Systems: Maintenance of electrical installations, lighting, distribution systems and related infrastructure.
- Mechanical Systems: Maintenance of mechanical equipment and building services, as applicable.
- Plumbing & Water Supply: Maintenance of water supply, drainage, sanitation and associated systems.
- Civil Works: Coordination of civil repairs, renovation, rehabilitation and approved infrastructure development projects.
- Preventive Maintenance: Planning and implementation of routine inspections and preventive maintenance to reduce equipment and infrastructure failures.
- Maintenance Requests: Receiving, assessing, prioritizing and coordinating responses to maintenance complaints from hospital departments.
- Technical Supervision: Monitoring repair works, contractors and service providers in accordance with approved specifications and institutional procedures.
- Utilities & Essential Services: Supporting the reliable operation of essential building services and infrastructure required for hospital operations.
- Safety & Compliance: Supporting safe engineering practices and compliance with applicable technical standards and institutional requirements.
Maintenance & Technical Support
The department coordinates with clinical, administrative and support departments to identify infrastructure requirements, address maintenance issues and minimize disruption to hospital operations.
Maintenance and repair works are undertaken according to operational priorities, technical assessments, available resources and the applicable approval procedures.
Infrastructure Development
The department supports approved renovation, rehabilitation and infrastructure improvement projects through technical coordination, supervision of works and monitoring of implementation in accordance with institutional requirements.
