OVERVIEW OF GASTROENTEROLOGY AND HEPATOLOGY DEPARTMENT.

Gastroenterology and Hepatology unit is the only specialized unit in whole Hazara Division in Government sector. It is 24 bedded unit and providing emergency care on 24/7 basis. It caters the need of ailing community of whole Hazara Division, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

Gastroenterology and Hepatology unit is dealing with emergency cases like upper GI bleeding, Acute liver failure, Acute Pancreatitis, Acute Gastroenteritis, Liver cirrhosis with complications.

Interventional upper GI Endoscopies include procedures like Esophageal Varices Ligation (EVL), Gastric varices Glue Injection, Sclerotherapy, Hemoclip application, Stricture dilatation, Achalasia dilatation, Adrenaline injection, Esophageal stenting, PEG, F.B removal and Biopsies are done in our unit. Lower GI interventions procedures include Polypectomy and Biopsies are also performed.

Hepatitis clinic is providing its services on daily basis which include Screening, Evaluation, & provision of free treatment for the cure of Hepatitis B & C for indicated Patients.

Department of Gastroenterology, Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad has come a long way since it was established 20 years ago with exceptional growth in the number of patients and procedure.

We are a group of consultants, post graduate trainees and qualified and trained staff rendering a major service to the community and patients.

The equipment has been constantly upgraded and is meeting the growing needs of procedure in the division of Gastroenterology.

Diagnostic and therapeutic Upper GI and lower GI Endoscopies are performed in Gastroenterology and Hepatology unit on daily basis. Hepatitis clinic is providing its services on daily basis which include Screening, Evaluation, & provision of free treatment for the cure of Hepatitis B & C for indicated Patients. We are also taking steps to provide the ERCP facility in our unit.

We are putting all our efforts to provide the state of the art facilities in our Department to make it one of the best Gastroenterology units of KPK.

  • Gastrointestinal endoscopies & Colonoscopies

    Upper Gastrointestinal endoscopies & Colonoscopies which also includes varices banding glue injection & Sclerotherapy for fundal varices. Different area biopsies, haemorrhoidal banding and clipping.
